INCLUSIVE PLAY AREAS
Sensory Space
We are excited to announce phased construction plans for an integrated sensory space for RH Dana students to safely explore and play, in and out of mobility devices such as wheelchairs and walkers. Thanks to a generous private donation, the area formerly known as the “Splash Pad” on RH Dana’s field will be transformed into an accessible sensory play space for children to get out of their wheelchairs, touch, climb, crawl, and play. The beautiful rendering of the space was created with input from our on-site expert team of educators and a district-approved play equipment vendor to best suit the needs of our special needs students here at RH Dana. Phase 1: install equipment; Phase 2: rubber surfacing; Phase 3: fencing. We will continue to provide updates on groundbreaking date and progress!
Inclusive Playground Needed - Join the Committee!
Join the playground committee! Currently, our playground is not accessible for students who use wheelchairs or other mobility equipment and needs updating for all of our students. Join this committee and get active working to research and advocate for the needs of our school. Let’s get a plan in place and mobilize to realize our goal of a new playground that serves everyone at our school! We hope to mobilize a letter writing campaign and petitioning local and state officials.
